This weblog appears to be dormant. In fact, there is a lot going on behind the scenes. I'm in the process of converting from Radio to Movable Type. On my desktop computer, I use Blosxom to create entries, some of which will eventually be posted publicly to this weblog, and others which may remain private to myself. There is currently a backlog of items that I will eventually post here.

The main reasons I am moving from Radio to Movable Type are (1) an effective weblog ought to allow visitors to post comments, and (2) Radio is not good for publishing when you are away from the office.

Last week when I was at the PDC, I wanted to post, but because I was away from the office, I couldn't. The option of exposing Radio to the Internet, so I could reach it while I was away, seemed too risky to me.

Exporting entries from Radio and importing them into Movable Type is awkward.* I'm thinking maybe I won't export/import at all. I can leave the Radio entries as they are so that permalinks won't be broken. Does anybody really care about searching through archives of old entries? Probably not. However, when you allow others to link to your entries, then it's probably a good idea not to break their links.

*The worst problem is that Movable Type wants to create a title for each entry. I didn't use titles with my Radio entries. Movable Type tries to create titles anyway by indiscriminately grabbing the first words of each entry. It looks ugly.
