This is first of a series of parables that are favorites of mine, and that I feel have relevance to many current events.
Bob is surprised one morning when there is a knock at his door. Bob opens the door to find a stranger who hands him $10. Bob thanks the stranger sincerely. The next day the same thing happens: Bob gets $10 from the same stranger. This event happens day after day for one year. Then, things change. By now, Bob has become accustomed to receiving the $10 every morning. But on this day, the stranger does not appear, and Bob does not get his $10. The next day, Bob waits at the door, looking out the window. At the usual time, Bob sees the stranger in the street, but the stranger walks past Bob's house. Bob's blood begins to boil. He rushes out the door and yells to the stranger "Hey, where's my $10!!"
Free stuff is nice. Free software is nice. I don't understand the constant fussing over free software.
